On Wednesday 30 October 2024, the Director General of Syriac Culture and Arts in the Iraqi Kurdistan Region, Kaldo Ramzi Oghanna, received a delegation from Arbaello Syriac School, which included the school principal, Saad Buya Yalda, and a number of teaching staff, at the Directorate’s building in Ankawa District Centre.
The two parties discussed the importance of teaching in the mother tongue and supporting the Syriac education process in the Iraqi Kurdistan Region. At the same time, Oghanna stressed the importance of teaching future generations in the mother tongue to preserve and develop it in the Region and under the central government.
At the end of his speech, Oghanna touched on the importance of coordination and joint cooperation in providing programs dedicated to children to serve Syriac education in the Region. At the same time, he praised the work of the administration and teaching staff in Syriac curriculum schools. He also stressed that the General Directorate of Syriac Culture and Arts’ doors are open to cooperation with all our people’s relevant cultural, social and governmental institutions.
