On Thursday 9 January 2025, the Director General of Syriac Culture and Arts in the Iraqi Kurdistan Region, Kaldo Ramzi Oghanna, received artist Talal Graish, who came from the Canadian city of Toronto to participate in the Fourth Annual Ankawa Christmas Festival, at the Directorate’s building in Ankawa District Centre.
The two parties discussed our people’s cultural and artistic reality, as well as the importance of the artist’s role in conveying his people’s message and expressing their concerns and aspirations. Oghanna additionally stressed that the General Directorate of Syriac Culture and Arts’ doors are open to cooperation with all individuals and institutions that address our people’s issues in the homeland and abroad, in order to support and develop our people’s cultural reality.
At the end of the meeting, Oghanna praised artist Talal Graish for participating in our people’s celebrations in the homeland on the occasion of Christmas and New Year, especially after his participation in the Fourth Annual Ankawa Christmas Festival. At the same time, he also appreciated his role in conveying his people’s message through his art and songs.
