Oghanna meets with Assyrian National Council and the Young Assyrians in Sydney

On Friday 14 June 2024, the Director General of Syriac Culture and Arts in the Iraqi Kurdistan Region, Kaldo Ramzi Oghanna, met with a delegation from the Assyrian National Council in Australia and the Young Assyrians, during his visit to their headquarters in the Fairfield area of the Australian city of Sydney, where he was received by the Council’s President Hermiz Shahen.

Oghanna was accompanied on his visit by a delegation from the Yonan Hozaya Center for Research and Future Studies, which included Adib Goga, Adil Danno and Medhat al-Bazi, and the two parties discussed our people’s cultural and national reality in the homeland, as well as the importance of preserving the Syriac culture and language and supporting its education and development at home and abroad.

During the meeting, Oghanna stressed the importance of joint cooperation between our people’s institutions, and working together to uphold and develop our people’s culture in both the homeland and diaspora.

It is worth noting that the Director General of Syriac Culture and Arts, Kaldo Ramzi Oghanna, is visiting Australia at an official invitation from the Yonan Hozaya Center for Research and Future Studies and the Suraya Cultural Forum, to discuss our people’s cultural and artistic scene in the homeland, through a number of events and meetings that bring him together with our expatriate people there, in addition to coordinating with our people’s institutions to hold the First Athra Syriac Symposium, which the Directorate intends to hold this September in Erbil Governorate’s Ankawa District.
