On Sunday 26 May 2024, Syriac Heritage and Museum Director Bernard Youssef, received the President of the Syriac League in Lebanon, Malfono Habib Afram, at the museum building in Ankawa District Centre. This was in response to the invitation extended to him by the Syriac Heritage and Museum Director during his visit to Lebanon in December of last year. This was for him to get to know the heritage and civilisation of his people in the East more closely, as well as discuss ways of joint cooperation between the two sides.
The guest toured the corridors of the museum and was briefed on its heritage assets and possessions. During the visit, the two parties also discussed the prospects for joint cooperation during their talk about the commonalities that bring together our people in the countries of the East.
It is worth noting that the President of the Syriac League in Lebanon, Malfono Habib Afram, visited the Iraqi Kurdistan Region to participate in the activities of the Third Annual Open Book Fair, organised by the General Directorate of Syriac Culture and Arts’ Syriac Library. Malfono Habib Afram was also honoured there with the Golden Syriac Creativity Award, in celebration of his distinguished intellectual achievements.
