The US Consul in Erbil visits the Syriac Heritage Museum in Ankawa

The US Consul General in Erbil, Irvin Hicks, visited the Syriac Heritage Museum in Ankawa on Thursday, 13 July 2023. He was received by Kaldo Ramzi Oghanna, Director General of Syriac Culture and Arts in the Iraqi Kurdistan Region, and Bernard Youssef, Director of Syriac Heritage and the Museum.

The guest toured the corridors of the museum and looked at its contents. He expressed his admiration for the exhibits, especially the historical mural completed as part of the project to preserve the cultural heritage of minorities in Iraq, with the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Antiquities Coalition.

The Consul General expressed his interest and appreciation for the role played by the Syriac Heritage Museum in Ankawa by writing a brief word in the visit log.

Last May, in the presence of the US Deputy Consul General in Erbil Zehra Bell, the Syriac Heritage Museum launched, within the framework of the same project, its documentary website in four languages (Syriac, Kurdish, Arabic and English). This provides an opportunity for those interested to obtain the most abundant and accurate information about the museum, its assets and everything related to the Syriac heritage.
