On Tuesday 5 November 2024, Director General of Syriac Culture and Arts Kaldo Ramzi Oghanna and Syriac Heritage and Museum Director Bernard Youssef received the US Embassy in Baghdad’s Deputy Public Affairs Officer, Adam Siegelman, at the Syriac Museum building in Ankawa District Centre.
Siegelman toured the museum’s halls and viewed its collections and archaeological finds. He expressed his admiration for the progress made in the projects implemented by the museum in cooperation with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), especially in the project “Preserving the Cultural Heritage of Minorities in Iraq” by archiving the Syriac heritage and making it accessible to researchers.
On the sidelines of the visit, Siegelman attended part of a workshop organised by the General Directorate of Syriac Culture and Arts in the Iraqi Kurdistan Region in cooperation with the Iraqi Culture, Tourism and Antiquities Ministry’s Conference Palace Department, at the Syriac Heritage Museum’s hall in Ankawa District Centre, to discuss ways to protect Iraqi components from hate speech.
