Ankawa Festival Awards Financial Grants to Public Schools in Ankawa

On Sunday, May 4, 2025, the organizing committee of the fourth edition of the “Ankawa Christmas” Festival awarded financial grants for the purchase of photocopy machines to several public schools in the Ankawa district of Erbil Governorate. This initiative aims to support the educational process and serve the students of our community, helping them complete their primary and secondary education and pursue higher studies.

The grants included financial support for the administrations of several public schools in Ankawa, namely: Ankawa Secondary School, Akitu Boys’ Secondary School, Hammurabi Syriac Basic School, and Zaga School. Additionally, a collection of traditional folkloric costumes was provided to students at Hedyab Basic School and Arbailu Syriac School, as well as to the Syriac Heritage and Museum Directorate, which operates under the General Directorate of Syriac Culture and Arts.

The grants were presented during a reception hosted by Kaldo Ramzi Oghanna, Director General of Syriac Culture and Arts, for the principals and teaching staff of the beneficiary schools at the directorate’s headquarters in Ankawa, Erbil.

It is worth noting that the fourth edition of the Ankawa Christmas Festival concluded its events on January 4, 2025. The festival was organized by the Ankawa Festival Platform under the patronage of the General Directorate of Syriac Culture and Arts, in cooperation with the Academic Social Center and the Ankawa Youth Social Club.
