On Monday 20 May 2024, the Director General of Syriac Culture and Arts in the Iraqi Kurdistan Region, Kaldo Ramzi Oghanna, received Dr. Ramazan Turgut, an academician from the Department of Syriac Studies at the University of the Turkish city of Mardin, at the directorate’s headquarters in Ankawa District centre. He was accompanied by Adam Hanno and Lukas Aktaş, who are interested in Syriac affairs in the same city.
In their conversation, the two parties touched on the most prominent social activities and events organised by the General Directorate of Syriac Culture and Arts in the various regions where our people are present, as they stressed the importance of developing and strengthening relations between the Department of Syriac Studies at Mardin University in Turkey and the General Directorate of Syriac Culture and Arts in the Iraqi Kurdistan Region.
Oghanna confirmed that the Directorate’s doors are open to cooperation with all our people’s institutions in a way that serves the Syriac culture and heritage in the East.
