On Monday 19 August 2024, the Director General of Syriac Culture and Arts in the Iraqi Kurdistan Region, Kaldo Ramzi Oghanna, receivedDr. Kawthar Najib, Head of the Syriac Language Department at Salahaddin University in Erbil, at the Directorate’s building in Ankawa District Centre.
The two parties discussed the most prominent activities and events organised by the General Directorate of Syriac Culture and Arts in the various areas where our people are present, and the importance of strengthening relations between our people’s institutions to support and develop the Syriac language, as Oghanna stressed that the General Directorate’s doors are open to cooperation with all our people’s institutions, in a way that serves our heritage and culture.
At the end of his speech, Oghanna reviewed the most important logistical preparations and arrangements made by the General Directorate, in order to prepare for the First Athra Syriac Symposium, in cooperation with the Yonan Hozaya Centre for Research and Future Studies, early next September, in Erbil Governorate’s Ankawa District.
