The Kurdistan Regional Government’s General Directorate of Syriac Culture and Arts has begun adopting Syriac in its official communications with government departments and institutions in Ankawa district center, as well as governmental institutions concerned with the Syriac language throughout the Region.
This unique step came to strengthen and consolidate the use and development of Syriac, which was approved in the 2015 Law for the Protection of the Rights of Components in Iraqi Kurdistan, in order to protect and guarantee the political, civil, social and cultural rights of components in the Region.
