In Bakhdida… Honouring the Director General of Syriac Culture and Arts

on Thursday 2 May 2024, the al-Hamdaniyah Mixed Fine Arts Institute in Bakhdida, Nineveh Plain, honoured the Director General of Syriac Culture and Arts in the Iraqi Kurdistan Region, Kaldo Ramzi Oghanna, for his role in supporting youth artistic activities and Syriac culture in the region.

Oghanna’s honor came during the institute’s second annual festival, held for the period from 2 to 3 May, at the Dr. Ricardos Yousif Theatre Hall, where the opening ceremony included musical and singing pieces, in addition to a theatrical performance entitled “Message No. 1,” written by playwright Ibrahim Golan and directed by Wissam Nouh, as well as the opening of an art exhibition that included a number of artistic and plastic works by the Institute’s students.

The opening ceremony also included a speech by the Institute’s director Nebras Khadoo, in which he stressed the support of the administration at the institute for its distinguished students, for the purpose of refining and developing their talents, so that they will be referred to as leaders in the future.

The festival’s opening ceremony was attended by Pastor of the Syriac Catholic Diocese of Mosul and its dependencies His Eminence Mar Benedict Younan Hanno, Director of Education in Hamdaniyah Rafid Yousif, members of the educational corps in Nineveh Governorate, and a group of our people in the region.

In addition to honouring him personally, the Director General of Syriac Culture and Arts, Kaldo Ramzi Oghanna, participated in honoring the guests present, perhaps the most prominent of whom was His Eminence Bishop Mar Benedict Younan Hanno. Oghanna praised the Institute’s employees, including the administration and teaching staff, and promised to continue supporting our people’s young artists in the Nineveh Plain. .
