Kaldo Ramzi Ogna, Director General of Syriac Culture and Arts in the Kurdistan Region, received Father Duraid Ishu Barbar, leader and maestro of the Kannara Orchestra, accompanied by Sam Ofi and Farid Salman, founding members of the orchestra, coming from Baghdida, on Monday, 9 Jan 2023, at the General Directorate building.
The visitors praised the momentum of the activities and events of the General Directorate of Syriac Culture and Arts and its distinction in terms of quantity and quality, and the remarkable development and active activity it is witnessing in its new administration, expressing their happiness in the fruitful cooperation with the General Directorate in its continuous activities, especially in the opening of the Syriac Cultural Week 2022, expressing their admiration for the high organization and the content presented and the diversity of activities, and their appreciation for the directorate’s openness to all artistic institutions in their various specializations.
For his part, Oghanna praised the outstanding performance of the orchestra in the activities of the General Directorate of Syriac Culture and Arts in the past year, pointing out that the participation of the band was a qualitative addition through the wonderful harmony of melodies and sounds that touched the audience, and this was manifested through the positive impressions that accompanied the performances. the musical Stressing at the same time that the doors of the General Directorate are open to everyone without discrimination, expressing the Directorate’s constant readiness and happiness to cooperate with all cultural and artistic institutions in the future.
