On Tuesday 21 May 2024, the Director General of Syriac Culture and Arts, Kaldo Ramzi Oghanna, received a delegation of activists interested in Syriac affairs in Türkiye at the directorate’s headquarters in Ankawa District centre. These included Fr. George Işık, Syriac language activist Yusuf Beğtaş, nationalist activist Maravge Yalçın, and activist Hanım Beğtaş.
The two parties discussed the Syriac cultural reality in Iraq, the Kurdistan Region, and the wider area. Oghanna indicated that the Directorate’s doors are open for cooperation with all individuals and cultural institutions inside and outside the country, in order to advance and develop the Syriac cultural reality in the countries of the East.
Oghanna presented the visiting delegation with a copy of the latest issue of “Banipal” magazine, which is published quarterly by the General Directorate of Syriac Culture and Arts in the Iraqi Kurdistan Region.
