The Kurdistan Regional Government’s General Directorate of Syriac Culture and Arts mourns the great national poet Aprim Shimon Beth-Yosip, who passed away after suffering from illness, on Sunday 21 April 2024 at the age of 76 years at Chicago Hospital in the American state of Illinois.
The Directorate, in the person of its General Director, its cadres, and its employees, extends its sincere condolences and sympathy to his family and admirers. We pray the Lord rest the deceased with his infinite mercy in his heavenly kingdom and to inspire his family with patience and solace.
It is worth noting that the poet Aprim Shimon Beth-Yosip is considered a nationalist lyric poet. He wrote many emotional and nationalist songs for our people’s great artists, such as Biba, Sargon Gabriel, and John Dashto.
