“Syriac Museum Hosts Discussion on Tourism in Iraq and Kurdistan”

On Thursday evening, May 8, 2025, the Syriac Museum, part of the General Directorate of Syriac Culture and Arts, held a discussion about tourism in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. The speaker was writer and author Saeed Shamaya.

Mr. Shamaya spoke about the importance of developing tourism in the villages of our people in the Nineveh Plains and Kurdistan. He encouraged members of the diaspora, especially those in the U.S. and abroad, to invest in these areas. He explained that tourism investment could create jobs and help local people, especially the youth, stay in their homeland instead of leaving.

The audience took part actively, asking questions and sharing ideas. They agreed that tourism investment is key to helping our people remain on their ancestral lands in Iraq and Kurdistan.
