The Syriac Arts Ensemble salutes the closing ceremony of the Iraqi Film Festival in Baghdad

On Sunday, 14 May 2023, the Syriac Arts Ensemble of the General Directorate of Syriac Culture and Arts in the Kurdistan Region revived the closing ceremony of the Iraqi Cinema Days Festival in its second edition, which was held at Al-Rashid Theater in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.

The band’s participation came through dancing paintings that delighted the audience and informed them about the culture of an authentic component of the Iraqi people, especially since it is the first time that it participates in the activities of this festival.

The director of the troupe, Laith Benjamin, gave a short speech in which he appreciated the role of the Director General of Syriac Culture and Arts in establishing the troupe and overcoming obstacles in order to present the Syriac art in the best way, stressing that the troupe’s presence in Baghdad is announcing the official return of the Syriac troupes that have been absent for thirty years, declaring that their goal Presence in all upcoming local and international forums.

The closing ceremony was attended by the Minister of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities in the federal government, Ahmed Fakak Al-Badrani, Advisor to the Prime Minister for Cultural Affairs Aref Al-Saadi, Director General of the Cinema and Theater Department Ahmed Hassan Musa, Director General of Syriac Culture and Arts in the Kurdistan Region, Kaldo Ramzi Oghanna , in addition to a number of general managers in The ministry and a group of the brightest stars of Iraqi and Syrian art.

It is worth noting that the Iraqi Cinema Days Festival was held for the period 11-14 May, and is the first official participation of the Syriac Arts Troupe in the capital, Baghdad.
