On Thursday 31 October 2024, the Director General of Syriac Culture and Arts in the Iraqi Kurdistan Region, Kaldo Ramzi Oghanna, received researcher and writer Abboud Zeitoune, who had come from Germany, accompanied by writer Yawsep Zaya, who came from the Russian capital, Moscow, at the Directorate’s building in Ankawa District Centre. They had come to participate in the activities of the “Ashur Yousuf of Kharput” conference, held at the Assyrian Cultural Center in the city of Duhok, on the occasion of the 175th anniversary of Syriac Journalism Day.
The two parties discussed the Syriac cultural reality in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, and the importance of joint cooperation between our people’s institutions in the homeland and abroad, to support and develop the cultural reality. Oghanna also stressed that the General Directorate of Syriac Culture and Arts’ doors are open to cooperaton with all individuals and institutions, to work together to raise the status of our people’s culture and develop it in the both homeland and abroad.
At the end of the meeting, Oghanna presented the visiting guests with a copy of the latest issue of “Banipal” magazine, which is published quarterly by the General Directorate of Syriac Culture and Arts.
