Undersecretary of the Iraqi Minister of Culture in the hospitality of the Syriac culture

Keldo Ramzi Oghanna, Director General of Syriac Culture and Arts in the Kurdistan Region, received Dr. Emad Jassem, Undersecretary of the Iraqi Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities, at the General Directorate building on Sunday morning, 12 March 2023.
They discussed ways of cooperation between the two sides and activating the partnership between them, especially in the scope of cultural activities and events organized by the Iraqi Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities throughout the country.
Dr. Emad Jassim stressed the need to work through joint committees to develop an official approved protocol between the two sides to develop appropriate plans to activate joint activities and events, pointing to the active role played by the Syriacs in cultural and artistic activities on more than one level.
Oghanna confirmed that the General Directorate of Syriac Culture and Arts continues to activate the Syriac cultural role through the Syriac artistic and cultural events and activities that it organizes in the region, pointing to the need to activate the Syriac cultural role at the level of Iraq as a whole.
At the end of the meeting, Oghanna gave the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture the book (Achievements of the General Directorate of Syriac Culture and Arts 2022), which includes the distinguished activities of the Directorate during the year 2022, as well as a selection of the most prominent publications of the General Directorate within the series of Syriac Culture.
He accompanied the Director General of Syriac Culture and Arts, Dr. Emad Jassim, to visit the Directorate of the Syriac Heritage and Museum of the General Directorate, and the visitor toured the corridors and halls of the Syriac Museum, expressing his great admiration for the modern methods adopted in providing historical and heritage information and his deep appreciation for the efforts of all its employees.
The Undersecretary of the Iraqi Ministry of Culture concluded his visit with a tour of the Library of Syriac Culture and was briefed on the important references and sources on its shelves, as well as the old books preserved according to scientific methods, appreciating the efforts of its staff.
