On Monday, April 28, 2025, the Director General of Syriac Culture and Arts in the Kurdistan Region, Kaldo Ramzi Oghanna, welcomed writer and author Saeed Shamaya to the Directorate’s headquarters in Ankawa. The meeting focused on discussing the current state of our community’s cultural scene and exploring ways to foster its development and preservation.
The two sides discussed the cultural realities of our people and the most effective strategies for promoting and sustaining them. Mr. Oghanna expressed his admiration for Mr. Shamaya’s long and impactful literary career, highlighting his significant contributions to the cultural enrichment of our community. He also emphasized that the General Directorate of Syriac Culture and Arts remains open to collaborating with individuals and institutions that share the goal of preserving and promoting our heritage and culture.
