On Sunday 16 June 2024, Zilgo Media, which broadcasts from Australia, hosted the Director General of Syriac Culture and Arts in the Iraqi Kurdistan Region, Kaldo Ramzi Oghanna, to discuss the Syriac cultural reality, along with ways to promote and develop it in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq.
The meeting, in which the dialogue was moderated by journalist Emmanuel Yousif, was filmed in Ivan Yaqoub’s studio, during which Oghanna touched on the activities and festivals held by the General Directorate of Syriac Culture and Arts in the homeland, contributing to the enrichment of the Syriac cultural reality in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.
In another aspect of the meeting, Oghanna stressed the importance of communication between homeland and diaspora to advance the Syriac cultural scene, explaining the importance of joint cooperation between our people’s institutions in order to raise the status of their culture and develop it in both domains together.
It is worth noting that the Director General of Syriac Culture and Arts, Kaldo Ramzi Oghanna, is visiting Australia at an official invitation from the Yonan Hozaya Centre for Research and Future Studies and the Suraya Cultural Forum, to discuss our people’s cultural and artistic scene in the homeland, through a number of events and meetings that bring him together with our expatriate people there.
