Director of the French Near East Institute, Hosted by Syriac Museum

On Tuesday 7 May 2024, the Director General of Syriac Culture and Arts, Kaldo Ramzi Oghanna, and Syriac Heritage and Museum Director Bernard Youssef, received the Director of the French Institute of the Near East in Erbil, George Muammar, at the Syriac Heritage Museum in Ankawa District Centre, to discuss ways of joint cooperation between the two parties.

The guest toured the museum’s corridors and viewed its heritage assets and collectibles. During the visit, the two parties also discussed prospects for joint cooperation and ways to establish future projects between the two sides, which would help preserve the heritage of Middle Eastern minorities.

It is worth noting that the French Institute for the Near East (IFPO) is a French research organisation with branches in a number of Middle Eastern countries. The institute is currently working on a project to conduct excavations in the heart of the ancient Erbil Citadel, which is located in the center of the city of Erbil.
