On the evening of Friday, May 30, 2025, the General Directorate of Syriac Culture and Arts celebrated International Children’s Day for the fourth year in a row. The event, titled “Children’s Day Celebration,” was part of the Ankawa Festival activities. It was organized in coordination with the Directorate of Education for the outskirts of Erbil, and in cooperation with the Social Academic Center, which hosted the celebration in its gardens in the Ankawa district of Erbil Governorate.
The celebration featured a variety of shows and games, including a ballet performance and piano recital by students from the Ornina Academy of Arts, as well as traditional folk dances by students from Meltho International School. There were also performances and competitions by students from Media School and children from Shazada Kindergarten, along with a school anthem presented by students of Hammurabi Syriac School. In addition, cartoon characters and mascots entertained and interacted with the children, adding a joyful and playful spirit to the event.
It is worth noting that Children’s Day is a global celebration of children observed on different dates in various countries, depending on each nation’s heritage and cultural traditions.
