On Monday, May 12, 2025, the Director General of Syriac Culture and Arts, Mr. Kaldo Ramzi Oghanna, and the Director of the Syriac Heritage and Museum, Mr. Bernard Youssef, welcomed politician and former Iraqi Member of Parliament Yonadam Yousif Kanna, at the directorate’s building in Ankawa District.
The two sides discussed the current cultural situation of the Syriac people and ways to develop and promote it. Mr. Kanna praised the role of the General Directorate of Syriac Culture and Arts in enriching the cultural life of the community through the various events and festivals it organizes in different regions. He also commended the leadership, staff, and employees of the directorate for their important role in supporting and developing the cultural identity of the Syriac people in their homeland.
During the meeting, Mr. Oghanna emphasized that the directorate is always open to cooperation with all individuals and institutions connected to the community, in ways that serve and preserve Syriac heritage and culture.
At the end of the visit, Mr. Oghanna presented Mr. Kanna with a copy of Issue No. 52 of Banipal magazine, which is published quarterly by the General Directorate of Syriac Culture and Arts in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
