The New U.S. Consul in Erbil Praises the Efforts of Syriac Culture in Preserving Our People’s Heritage

Kaldo Ramzi Oghna, Director General of Syriac Culture and Arts, together with Bernard Yousif, Director of Syriac Heritage and Museum, and Faihaa Shamoun, Director of the Syriac Library, received on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at the Syriac Heritage Museum building in Ankawa district, the new U.S. Consul General in Erbil, Gwendolyn Green, along with her accompanying delegation.

In his remarks to the visiting delegation, Oghna highlighted the most important programs implemented by the Syriac Heritage Museum to preserve the cultural heritage of our people and archive it, making it accessible to researchers.

After the delegation toured the museum’s halls and viewed its heritage collections, the new U.S. Consul General in Erbil, Gwendolyn Green, praised the efforts of the General Directorate of Syriac Culture and Arts in safeguarding heritage and preserving the cultural identity of our people. She stressed that the influence of this ancient people is present across the world, including in the United States.
