To Exchange Ideas about the Syriac Symposium… Oghanna meets with Yonan Hozaya Centre in Sydney

On Saturday 15 June 2024, the Director General of Syriac Culture and Arts in the Iraqi Kurdistan Region, Kaldo Ramzi Oghanna, met the management of the Yonan Hozaya Centre for Research and Future Studies in the Australian city of Sydney, to discuss and exchange ideas about the First Athra Syriac Symposium, which they intend to hold next September in Erbil Governorate’s Ankawa District.

During his speech, Oghanna reviewed the most important logistical preparations made by the General Directorate of Syriac Culture and Arts, in order to prepare for the holding of the First Athra Syriac Symposium, touching on the most prominent figures who will be guests of the Symposium and participate in its activities.

Oghanna pointed out that the First Athra Syriac Symposium will examine how the Syriac language and culture were able to survive and communicate throughout these times, despite the many challenges facing its continued existence.

At the end of his speech, Oghanna praised the cooperation of the Yonan Hozaya Centre for Research and Future Studies in holding the First Athra Syriac Symposium, stressing the importance of joint cooperation between our people’s institutions in the homeland and the diaspora, as well as working together to raise the status of our people’s culture, developing it both in the homeland and diaspora.

It is worth noting that the Director General of Syriac Culture and Arts, Kaldo Ramzi Oghanna, is visiting Australia at the official invitation of the Yonan Hozaya Centre for Research and Future Studies and the Suraya Cultural Forum, to discuss our people’s cultural and artistic scene in the homeland, through a number of events and meetings that bring him together with our expatriate people there.
