“Throughout your ups and downs, your sun will accompany you… it will encourage you in your strength, it will light up your dark days, and it will warm the caterpillars inside your heart to grow and turn into butterflies…”

Recently, the General Directorate of Syriac Culture and Arts, and within the Syriac Library’s Syriac Culture Series, issued a book titled “Shamsi” (My Sun) by Sava Saliba, from Dohuk Governorate. It is her first publication. The book contains various small, focused thoughts with goals, purposes, and objectives drawn by the writer, with eyes full of hope and optimism about life, morals, love and other topics. Describing her book, the writer says, “My book targets the youth… many of whom do not disclose what is going on inside them, or rather do not know how to disclose it, or to whom. This may cause repression of many feelings… You may find a feeling that accompanied you one day while reading one of the pages of this book. Each chapter has a specific character, one strong, the other weak, and the last full of love. You choose the chapter that resembles you.” The book comprises 74 medium-sized pages and bears the number 69 in the series.
